CMV Esophagitis
CMV is shorthand for the tongue twister, cytomegalovirus. This infection tends to attack those people whose immune system has been injured as with chemotherapy or HIV infection. The image shows scattered whitish ulcerations merging together. The infection causes pain in the esophagus when food or liquid is swallowed.
