Feeding Tubes
Image 1
The PEG Tube
PEG stands for percutaneous (through the skin) endoscopic gastrotomy (stomach tube). When patients are unable to eat to nourish themselves, then a PEG tube may be placed through the skin into the stomach. Here you see the tube within the stomach. The bile from the intestine has refluxed back into the stomach and has stained the white tubing a yellow color. Liquid food can be infused through the tube into the stomach.
