IV Infiltrations:
Patients at West Shore Endoscopy Center, receiving anesthesia will have an intravenous (IV) needle and infusion started. IV infiltration is the inadvertent administration of that solution into surrounding tissue. One very typical signs and symptom of infiltration at an IV site is: swelling or leaking at the site, pain, and skin coolness and blanching.

Hospital Transfers
:
At times there may arise a situation that our patients may need to be transferred to another facility for further treatments. West Shore Endoscopy Center has procedures in place to take care of the patients when this need may arise.

Perforations:
Perforation is the most serious complicaton of endoscopy. Perforations are a tear, in the esophagus, stomach wall or colon while doing an endoscopy procedure. These complications may require hospitalization and, rarely, surgery. Perforation, which can result from direct mechanical trauma or pneumatic distention of the bowel.
